How Can We Be More Receptive to the Presence of the Divine?

What can I do? That's a question so often asked when we are trying to go from one place to another in our lives. There are many answers that can be checked off an organized list. But “how can we be more receptive to the presence of the Divine” is a question that is not about "doing" but about "being." That's a mindful experience.

Becoming open to receive is a disciplined practice. It helps to have silence instead of saying something. It helps to have stillness instead of accomplishing something. And it helps to have a receptive mind instead of thinking about something.

You can begin practicing: sit without movement for a while, listen to the sounds outdoors as you take in the tiniest of sounds, gaze at an inspiring painting or sculpture just to take in the physical beauty. This is about opening up and receiving. Then, with a prayerful intent, do as instructed in Psalm 46:10 -- "Be still and know that I am God."

If you would like to explore more about becoming receptive, join our waiting list for the next class being offered for PRESENCE the Class.
