Why isn't It the Same God for Everyone? Or is it?

If I described the form and characteristics of the God of my understanding, I would expect there to be some differences with the description you might have. If we took a look at the God written about in different parts of the Bible, we also would likely have many ways of experiencing the Divine. So how do we reconcile these different accounts of the Spirit with our often main theme of being people who believe in One God?

Take, for example, the riddle of the elephant. There were three blindfolded people asked to describe what they were touching: One said it was like a tree trunk, so it must be a tree. One said it was long and skinny so it must be like a snake. And one said it was a long hose with an opening at the end. They were all correct, but they didn't have the whole picture.

I figure that's how I am, maybe how you are, and I'm okay with that. I connect with that understanding of the Divine which connects with my limitations. But there is so very much more in the mystery to discover.
