Does the Divine Want Us to Live in Black and White or Color?

You know how sometimes you buy a car and decide to save some money by not getting that feature you would really like? For the next who-knows-how-many years, every time you get in that car you wish you had gotten that feature. And you paid it off so long ago that you can't even remember how much extra it would have cost. But now you're living with chronic regret.

Do you think the Divine wants you to live with chronic regret? I don't think so.

I had to make a significant decision when finalizing my plans to publish my book, PRESENCE Recognizing the Divine in Your Everyday Life. Would the photos inside be B/W or color? The cost difference was really significant. I thought about what God would guide me to do, and I just knew I would feel the tinge of chronic regret every time I looked inside the book, or worse yet, saw someone else look inside. I could only imagine my constant explaining about how nice the photos could have looked if they were color -- CHRONIC REGRET big time.

What have you regretted in a chronic way? How connected do you feel to the Divine when you have those feelings?

When you make a tough decision like skipping a party to study for your final exam, or leaving an abusive relationship, or saving money so you can one day buy a house, that leads you into strength, joy, and feeling close to the love and caring God wants you to feel.

So, the photos in the book are in color. I look at them and love them. My heart soars because they are so beautiful. I am full of joy when someone mentions how beautiful they are, and I don't have to explain why I made a choice not worthy of them. No chronic regret this time. Ask the God of your understanding to help guide you to live in color.
