New Reflections and Projections
The new year is a good time for reflection and projection. Doing that within a framework of my relationship with Divine energy gives it even more special meaning. I talk to my spiritual guides as a form of prayer because I do best when I listen and talk, so that is my preferred way to gain spiritual insight. Like choosing one friend instead of another for a treasured activity or conversation, I choose among a number of relationships I have developed over decades of encountering those from the spiritual side of things.
For reflection, I look over the last long 12 months and ask, what would have served me (and others who have encountered me) better if I had done "more of” or “less of" something. These conversations I have in prayer often reveal some core areas I have struggled with for a long time. It is a nice time for me to be brutally honest without running into the resistance that relationships on Earth sometimes evoke.
I get all cozy within a meditative moment and ask the wise and holy that question -- like dropping a pebble into a still pond and watching the ripples flow from the impact. As I do this, I become aware of an answer (So is that me talking to me? Or the Divine teaching and nudging me? I love that I can accept that as a mystery and accept either/both.)
For projection, my total favorite thing is to choose a theme for the year. This is not a resolution, but a well thought out concept (usually one or a few words) that frame the whole upcoming year. In the past, some of my themes have been, Have Fun, Spotlight, and Stay the Course. This year my theme is: Moving. I like that it has multiple meanings to me -- I want to do more physical moving, I may consider moving houses, I want to shed the Covid 19 restrictions and get moving! The additional definitions that pop up like "inspirational, meaningful, persuasive, gripping, stunning" make this theme really active. Can't wait to see how my decisions, thoughts, and actions shift within this year's theme!
Perhaps you would like to consider having a theme for the year?
