When can you feel the presence within guiding you?
I can remember when I was about 12 that I was so confident in my bicycle riding that I could take my hands off the handlebars and guide the bike with the subtle movement of the connection between my body and the bike. The internal contest was, how long could I do this automatic, no-touch steering before I had to grab the handlebars back again to avoid crashing. It was thrilling, yet dangerous to let go of what I had been perfecting for many years by then-- controlling the ride and the direction.
I got on a bike recently, so to speak, by volunteering to run a charity auction at my church for the benefit of my favorite charity. There were lots of people, lots of moving parts, not a lot of resources, and this was my first time ever doing something like this. And it was important for many reasons. Yet throughout the process, the usual nerves, self-doubts, second guessing, and fears were rarely apparent. I could feel that Divine presence within saying, "let go, I can steer for a while. Just keep pedaling and staying in balance and I'll take care of the rest." I could really feel it, and I did my very best to be aware of the power of that kind of inner strength and reassurance. Even now, as the event has just ended, I can still feel that inner working of Spirit.
Have you had that happen in moments when you felt you could let go of the handlebars and take off and everything would be okay? When you felt you weren't alone? If you are able, give yourself the opportunity to experience the Divine taking you in a direction that has a powerful partnership and a sense of purpose. It's just like riding a bike.
