Hello from Delaware. I've been here three days. It all started after a snow/ice storm that delayed my movers arriving to the house by a critical day. Then a threat of a failed settlement because the inspector's approval wouldn't load on the county website. Then a freak snowstorm that left my new driveway icy, deliveries not made, shall I go on? I can list all the little signs that have been thrown on my path. But what do they mean?
Moving
I am moving. Moving into the unknown and moving away from what I have loved for over six years. On the surface, the idea of a mother and her twenty-something daughter living together sounds fraught with problems, yet when my daughter was 27 and her son was only 5, we did just that. It has been the happiest time of living I have ever had.
Life and Death
I was in Thailand about two years ago and experienced some time with a Buddhist monk. He expressed his life philosophy essentially by asking, “why wait until you die to experience Heaven, when you have the ability to experience it right here, right now?” He believed in Heaven on Earth. What if he is right? What if we are meant to rediscover what our soul already understands and has experienced.
What New Things in the New Year?
We love new things. New shinny things. It lets us shed the old, worn out, no good, useless (or worse yet, harmful) things of the past to make way for something different that we have either never had before, or we want to try again as if it is new. Ahhh. Such a good feeling.
